KICS is the result of many years of dissatisfaction with the direction of education in our corner of PNG. Tossed about on the waves of reform our tiny bush schools have barely had a chance to implement one system before the government scraps it in favor of a new one. First OBE (Outcomes based education), then SBE (Standards based eduction), free education then, subsidized education, then fee based education every year something new. As teachers and board members try to keep up with reforms continuity in the classroom is lacking. Attention to detail is lacking. Attendance is lacking. Passion is lacking. Students are struggling. We want to help.
We hope to turn the page at KICS. We are establishing a school where every student matters. Every day is a gift. Every lesson is important. Important enough to repeat until the student masters it. Success isn’t relative. It is measurable. Academic progress is not determined by the days on the calendar but by the quantifiable mastery of material.
Most importantly our staff are dedicated to making Christ the foundation of this school. The word of God will be infused into all areas of study. We believe that to understand our world we must learn as much as possible about the creator and his plan for it and us. Each child is created uniquely and is of value to God. He has a plan for each one. We at KICS will encourage students to know God and seek his will for their lives.
